The WV Department of Natural Resources has announced that in early April it will stock lakes and streams throughout the state with more than 40,000 golden trout.

The stockings are part of the second annual "Gold Rush" promotion hosted by the DNR, according to Steve McDaniel, the director of the DNR and a Bridgeport native.

The "Gold Rush" promotion and stocking is designed to encourage fishing by West Virginia residents and non-residents alike.
