Liberty High School assistant principal and athletic director Brad Fittro announced he will leaving the school next month to take a job with the West Virginia Department of Education.
Fittro (left) said his last day at the school will be Nov. 14. He will working with the state's Office of Professional Preparation, helping future teacher obtain their certifications and licensure.
“It's a new challenge, but it's something I thought I would be good at,” Fittro said.
Fittro has been at Liberty for the past three years, and he said telling people he would be leaving was not an easy thing to do.
“It has been a tough decision,” he said.
Prior to coming to Liberty, Fittro served as an assistant principal at Anna Jarvis Elementary School in Taylor County and as an assistant principal at Robert L. Bland Middle School in Lewis County. He also previously taught at Bridgeport High School, and he has been employed as an educator in Cabell County and in Kentucky.
He said there is no person serving in an interim capacity at Liberty, and he said the job should be posted with the Harrison County Board of Education in the coming days.
