By Connect Clarksburg Staff | May 12, 2018
{UPDATED} The fourth annual Harrison County Theatre Awards show was held at Robert C. Byrd High School on Saturday night with hundreds of student theater supporters from throughout the county in attendance.

This Awards show recognizes outstanding student talent on display and featured in plays and musicals produced during the school year by Bridgeport High School, Liberty High School, Lincoln High School, Notre Dame High School, Robert C. Byrd High School and South Harrison High School.

The Harrison County Theatre Awards Show is believed to be the only program of its kind that recognizes high school and middle school students who participate in the performing arts.  The award categories recognizes student actors as well as students involved in the production of the show.

The annual show is produced by Vintage Theatre Company (VTC) of Clarksburg and the Harrison County Board of Education.  Jason Young is the founding director of VTC and the executive producer of the show.

"This was another great opportunity to showcase the students and student theater at its absolute best," Young said after the show.

"I challenge any school system in the nation to compete with the level of performing arts that you can find right here in Harrison County," Young said.

Young recognized the The Harrison County Cultural Foundation for a financial grant to help cover the cost of the awards show.  During the show, each high school showcased a short version of their nominated productions.

Graduating seniors from all over the county participated in a musical performance to finish the show.
