Krystian's Kolumn: Modeling, a New Commercial and Looking Forward to 2018!

“When you feel like stopping, think about why you started” – Unknown

The past few weeks have been filled with holiday fun and a bit of travelling. With school out on break, I have been playing catch up on my nonprofit work, and trying to fit in more family time before next semester begins. It’s hard to believe that yet another year is passed and here I am looking into 2018, and naturally this time of year brings about reflection and ideas for growth.

I would like to say that I have a specific plan each year, and I work to make it all come together. But that isn’t real life. I work hard and say my prayers, and that is truly how the adventure unfolds. Hard work is truly key, and at times when I feel as though I am not doing enough. I have my mom to remind me of all the milestones, and victories I have had.

2017 brought me better health, including a new doctor who is truly a godsend. International growth of Shining S.C.A.R.S., reporting for Channel Kindness, co-emceeing alongside Heather Habura at the annual HH Studio Showcase, traveling from New York to New Mexico and Texas as well as incredible modeling opportunities.

This fall I entered Art and Beauty Magazine’s search for the most beautiful faces in pageantry contest, and I received the exciting email that my headshot was chosen for the winter Beauty Issue! You can subscribe to their online edition or order your hard copy by visiting http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/1347299 and follow them on Facebook at Beauty, It’s Everywhere.  Big shout out to Carter’s Studio of Myrtle Beach, SC, for shooting my pageantry headshot, it’s truly amazing.

And what would the holidays be without having your wisdom teeth removed? Thankfully I opted to have this done after my family visit at Thanksgiving. But while I was still healing I was invited to shoot a commercial in Ohio.

Dress and Party Ohio is a pageant and prom shop and I met the owner William thru pageant circles as he was one of the sponsors at the 2017 West Virginia Fairs and Festival’s pageant, which took place in January 2017. I earned 1st Runner Up and had the best time competing as West Virginia Three Rivers Queen.

William had an idea to shoot a commercial using a drone, which I had never done before so naturally I was excited to join in and make the trek to Ohio. When I arrived it was snowing and pretty cold. We weren’t sure if we would even be able to shoot the commercial due to the high winds. But just an hour later we were traveling to the location and I bravely stepped out in my first gown in a red Tony Bowls with toe warmers stuck to only my shoes and held my breath.

Modeling isn’t always a glamourous affair. I have braved chilly temps before but nothing like this experience. I will say I was grateful to have a warm car to step into and it took more than a day to truly feel warm again. But waking up to the commercial this morning made it all worth it. Catch it on my Facebook page, or head over to Dress and Party Ohio on Instagram and Facebook.

Here’s to 2018 and my wish for each one of you to live life to the fullest! Your dreams only need you to come true. Cheers!
