Educator Rose Mazza to be Recognized by PWA for Her Dedication to Literacy

In observance of National Italian Heritage Month for October, the Progressive Women's Association will honor ten women of Italian heritage during a noon luncheon on Friday, October 27. The event will take place at Uptown Event Center and will feature bank financier Marie Prezioso as keynote speaker.
 
Connect Clarksburg is pleased to present this introduction of one of this year's honorees.
 
Rosalyn Queen Alonso, PWA President, noted that the Women of Distinction Program recognizes Harrison County women who have made a difference in their communities. She described this highly-successful program as an expression of gratitude for their commitment and continued support to the Clarksburg community and Harrison County.
 
This program is a continuation of our mission - “A movement providing opportunities to empower women in their personal advancement that will enable them to impact their community,”  Mrs. Alonso said.
 
This event is sponsored through the generous support of Davis Funeral Home.

The individial woman recognized this year in the category of LIteracy is Rosalba "Rose" Maria Mazza.
 
Born in Italy, Rose immigrated to the United States when she was 12 years old.  After raising her daughter, Rose worked to achieve her personal goal of completing a college degree in foreign languages.
 
Rose finds cultural awareness and communication skills to be of utmost importance in today’s global society. She's taught French, Italian, Spanish, and Spanish Peninsular Literature in high schools as well as at WVU, Fairmont State, Pierpont Community Technical College, Davis & Elkins College, and Veterans Upward Bound.
 
She and her husband Louie live in Bridgeport.
