The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County has announced the recipients of the 2018 Community Arts Grant Awards at its annual meeting on Sunday, January 21, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at Waldomore in Clarksburg.

The Cultural Foundation provides funding for local arts groups through memberships and donations from the community. Proceeds from the Grand Performances performing arts series also contribute to the award fund.

Penny Neeley, grants program chairman, has announced that this year 26 local arts organizations have been selected to receive grant awards.  These cash grants will enable them to present performances, workshops, school programs, and exhibits, market programs or purchase equipment. A total of $23,663 was awarded this year. This is the largest Community Arts Grant award to date.  In all, the Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 since the commmunity grant program was established.

Each grant recipient will give a brief description of their program and upcoming projects. One of the highlights of the event is from learning the extent of arts programming made possible, at least in part, by CAP funds.

To begin the annual meeting, local pianist and piano instructor Rayme Pullen played a selection of pieces on the Cultural Foundation’s Steinway grand piano. The piano is housed at Waldomore and is available for use by the public, through arrangement with the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library.

A reception followed the grant presentations. Additional information about the organization and membership application form can be found at www.theculturalfoundation.org.
